The following are the rules for #StarDragonInn. If all the rules are followed then everyone will have fun RolePlaying.
The StarDragonInn
The StarDragonInn is the highest focus of loyalty among the patrons of the channel,
and gives all the members a set of traditions and a code in which to live by, as well
as a free form role-playing social structure within which a person's own position and
social progress could be measured. Loyalty to the channel is the most important requirement
in StarDragonInn society, and those who betrayed the channel to its enemies will be
regarded with hatred and contempt.
Patrons and Rights
A patron is when a member of the channel moves from newbie status to full StarDragonInn
patron. And a newbie that becomes a patron gains all the rights and responsibilities of
the channel and thus are considered to be full members of the channel. Only by gaining
the patron status can one have a voice in the channel, and the ability of moving beyond
the rank of a mere patron.
Social Organization and Structure
In the StarDragonInn, there are a number of structures that govern and officiate
the channel.
The Inner Circle
Every month there is a meeting of the Channel Elders. Only these individuals may
vote, though all those who attend may speak. But the channel operators can influence
these votes heavily. The channel operator can over turn any vote in the channel if he
has the support of at least 2/3s of the channel.
Voting is handled in a simple way. Each elder makes a vote on the subject at hand,
and for every fourth of the channel that is present that votes, counts as one elder vote.
Thus if half the channel present votes on one subject together, then that will be as if
two of the elders voted in that direction.
The chief function of the Inner Circle is to appoint the channel Marshals, the
channel judges and police force, to settle major channel disputes, and make decisions
on any other subject that will majority effect a channel.
Conclave
A conclave is when the Channel Elders and Operators meet. All channel members are
allowed at this meeting, and are allowed one vote each. Unlike the Inner Circle voting,
each channel member's vote is equal to all others, but the elder's vote is considered
equal to 5 patrons votes, and the channel operator's vote is equal to 2 patron's votes.
The reason of a conclave is to vote on any minor channel decision, including new
member initiation, and choosing channel operators, elders, and wardens. Only a channel
operator, elder or warden may call a conclave.
Social Rankings
The channel has a number of social rankings which show each members status within
the channel and what powers and abilities he or she is allowed to have.
Channel Initiate/Newbie:
Patrons of this status have not yet be introduced into to channel fully. People
of this status have very little rights in the channel, yet they are a part of the
channel and thus have to follow the Code of the StarDragonInn.
Channel Regular/Patron:
These are the channel members that have become true regulars. In order to become
a true patron, a channel initiate must have lived, for the most part, true to the Code
of the StarDragonInn, and to the laws and traditions of the channel. Usually after a
month, a newbie enters into patron status by virtue of experience.
Baronet/Channel Operator (100):
The Baronet is the patron who regulates all channel activity. This includes
maintaining the channel, enforcing the Role-Playing, taking care of trouble makers, etc.
Although he or she has considerable power, he or she still must answer to his elders
and leaders within the channel. Their votes only count as 1 vote. To become a Baronet,
a patron must have been a member of the channel for at least 6 months and been loyal
to the channel, displaying great wisdom.
Baron or Baroness/Channel Operator (100):
When a Baronet has been an Op for 3 months, he becomes a Baron, with full benefits
of the rank, including his vote counting as 2 patron votes.
Viscount or Viscountess/Channel operator (150):
The Viscount is identical to the Baron, except he or she regulates all channel
activity, including the Barons and Baronets. In order to become a Viscount, one must
have been a Baron for at least 3 months and prove to be a solid leader and loyal to
the channel.
Count or Countess/Channel Operator (200):
The Count is identical to the Viscount, except he or she regulates all channel
activity, including the Viscount, Baron, and Baronet. In order to become a Count, one
must have been a Viscount for at least 3 months and proven to be a solid leader and
loyal to the channel.
Marquis or Marquise/Channel Operator (250):
The Marquis is identical to the Count, except he or she regulates all channel
activity, including the Count, Viscount, Baron, and Baronet. In order to become a Marquis,
one must have been a Count for at least 3 months and proven to be a solid leader and loyal
to the channel.
Duke or Duchess/Channel Operator (300):
The Duke is identical to the Marquis, except he or she regulates all channel activity,
including the Marquis, Count, Viscount, Baron, and Baronet. And in order to become a Duke,
one must have been a Marquis for at least 3 months and proven to be a solid leader and
loyal to the channel.
Royal Duke or Royal Duchess/Channel Operator (350):
When a Duke has displayed significant loyality, wisdom, and leadership skills to
the channel, he is promoted to the rank of Royal Duke and is then eligable to become an Elder.
Channel Elder/Channel Operator (400):
Few hold greater power in the channel then the elder. The elders form the Inner
Circle and Conclave and the Thanes. To be considered an elder, a patron has to have been
in the channel for no less then two years and be voted in by the majority of the channel.
Thane/Channel Operator (450):
The Thanes are channel elders and chief advisors to the Head Operator. All Thane
votes count as 2 elder votes, and to became a Thane, a patron must first have been a
channel elder for no less then 1 year.
Channel High Lord/Channel Operator (475):
These are the channel leaders and their votes count the same as the Thane, plus 1
patron. To be the channel leader, one must win the position in some manner, and/or be
approved by a conclave meeting.
Prince or Princess/Channel Operator (499):
This is the second highest position in the channel. The prince/ss is the figure
head and representative of the StarDragonInn, and thus displays the ideals and concepts
of the StarDragonInn. To be the prince/ss, you MUST have followed the Code of the
StarDragonInn by heart and soul. Followed the code by the letter and by the spirit,
never flawing in the practice of the code more then twice, and then only minor flaws.
Only two may ever hold this position at any one time and been approved by the Inner
Circle and Conclave and the Head Op all three.
Vortigern/Head Operator (500):
This is the Head Op, leader of all of the channel. His or her word is law, and
any vote he casts is considered to be fully equal to half the channel and has the right
to overturn any vote if he so desires.
Code of the StarDragonInn
* You must be loyal to your channel, for it is your home.
* You must be loyal to your fellow patrons and treat them with honor and respect, for
they are your blood.
* You must never attack a fellow patron out of character without the permission of your
channel elders, and then only in fair open combat before the channel in the OOC channel.
* You must follow the laws of the channel to the letter and spirit.
* You must honor all in the channel and treat them as you would have them treat you.
* Your honor is your life, never betray your channel.
Laws and Traditions of the StarDragonInn
* If you wish to join the channel you must have a character. When you stop in the first
time we will be given the introduction by a channel operator. Next time you come in you
need a character. A Thought out character. Like name, race, sex, age, where you are from,
what are you doing here, what is your goals, what do you do for a living, what do you own,
what do you look like, and a list of all your powers and abilities. And this information
should be put on the list for all to see.
* Keep the actions clean and respectable. Do not degrade yourself and the channel by
performing graphic sexual scenes or excessive cursing.
* You are free to do any action you wish, within reason. If there is a dispute, turn to
one of the channel operators for a decision. His ruling is law, accept it.
* When participating within a plot, there will be a Game Master present presiding over
the plot. His word is final in any action and may overturn any decision, except by the
Head Op, within his own plot.
* When in doubt about any action within the channel, turn to one of the Operators present
and seek their answer to it. What they say is considered law. If you disagree with what
they say, you may present your case at the next conclave or inner circle meeting.
* Power levels will be constantly regulated and watched over by the channel operators.
No character may possess powers of a godlike nature and may be no more powerful then a
dragon. If someone has a dispute about your character's abilities, turn to one of the
channel operators.
* Non Player Characters are frequently used by Ops and Patrons regularly, but they must
still stay within the regular confines of acceptable player powers. Only NPCs authorized
by the inner circle or conclave may possess godlike powers. All others will be dismissed.
* Out of Character chat should take place within the OOC Channel and be heavily limited
in the main channel, to avoid disrupting the role-play.
* When in doubt about anything, use common sense and reasoning.
* Your character may only die if you so allow it.
* This is a game, have fun, and do not take what happens to your character personally.
* If a character is involved in an unescapeable death, but does not wish his character
to die, then the channel shall make a vote, with channel op's votes are equal to 2 and
the elder's votes are equal to 5. If the votes incure that the character does, then the
player must conceed and let the character die his death.
* Above all, what the Head Op says, goes. His words are law.
Rules for Dismissal
* The Laws and Codes of the StarDragonInn are expected to be followed at all times by
word and spirit. No one should be so foolish as to believe that anyone can follow all
of the laws and codes of the StarDragonInn all of the time. As long as an honest effort
is made and the person is loyal to the channel, then they should be permitted to stay
and given leeway.
* A person may only be kicked if they are being excessively disruptive of the channel,
by displaying excessive OOC talk, graphic sex or excessive graphic cursing, excessive
rude behavior, or betrayal of any of the Codes or Laws of the StarDragonInn. Wardens
and Marshals may also perform kicks and bans or even removal of Ops from the offending
channel Ops if the need arises.
* Before any action is taken, the offending party must first be clearly warned that their
actions have become offensive.
* If the offending party continues in their actions after being warned, it is in the Ops
right to kick the offending party.
* If the offending party continues their actions even after this, the Op is authorized to
ban the offending party for 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 1 week, to 2 weeks maximum,
depending on number of offenses.
* Before each kick and ban, the offending party must be given at least 1 to 3 warnings
before hand, to give the offending party a chance to stop their offensive behavior.
Code of the StarDragonInn Operators (For the Ops only)
* You must be loyal and obedient to yourself and your channel.
* Loyalty is the unquestioned promise a patron to one of higher power and authority.
* Loyalty is a treasure valued only when it is justly given.
* To those whom loyalty is due includes all that is good, yourself, to your channel, and
those oppressed by injustice.
* You must have unquestioned obedience to those whose authority is righteously maintained
in the StarDragonInn.
* You must remain loyal to your fellow patrons, treat them as your brothers and sisters,
and never betray them, as well as remaining loyal to the ideas and traditions of the
StarDragonInn and must always be true to your word.
* You must aid a fellow patron when ever the need is, as long as the patron is about
honorable and just business or on the business of the StarDragonInn.
* You must be strong, brave, wise, and skilled in leadership.
* You must face evil and injustice without concern for personal suffering
* Face arguments at all times with courage, wisdom and good bearing.
* Defend the honor of your channel, the honor of your fellow patron
* Protect the defenseless and weak, and never deny protection to a person that is
true of heart.
* Never flee from just arguments regardless of the strength of the enemy, unless
it is to protect the weak or innocent.
* You must strive for candor and flee from pride.
* At all times, one must be courteous, generous, and honest to all.
* You must exemplify honor guided by wisdom and justice.
* Wisdom is the strength of honor and the ability applied in the service of
just causes.
* You must take compassion on the less fortunate, sacrifice one's life for the sake of
others, giving no thought to one's own safety in defense of the channel, protecting
the lives of fellow patrons.
* You must fight for justice without regard to personal safety or comfort, to never
submit to an evil foe, to sacrifice all in the name of honor.
Police and Judges of the StarDragonInn
The StarDragonInn can not function without some difficulty, thus the need for a police
force and judges. The Wardens and Marshals may freely chastise other Ops if the need arises,
and thus in that aspect, may outrank even a higher member of the channel as long as he is
about official police business. The Wardens and Marshals are in effect, the Operator's
Operators. There are two rankings of this force:
Warden/Channel Operator (100):
The warden is the police force and judges of the channel. They enforce the laws and
traditions of the channel as well as the Code of the StarDragonInn within their channel.
To be able to become a warden, you must have been a patron for at least 5 months and lived
by the letter and spirit of the code of the channel, without flaw, except for minor
violations. And then the conclave votes them in.
Marshal/Channel Operator (400):
The marshal is the police force and head judges of the channel. They are in all
other aspects, identical to the wardens. The marshals are picked from the best of
the wardens.
